PPI — pixels per inch — measures how many pixels are packed into each linear inch of your monitor's display surface. Higher PPI means smaller, denser pixels, which produces sharper text, smoother curves, and more detailed images. PPI is the single metric that connects a monitor's resolution to its physical size in a way that tells you how sharp the image will actually look at your desk. A 4K (3840×2160) monitor sounds impressive, but if it's a 55-inch TV, its PPI is only 80 — visibly less sharp than a 1080p laptop at 125 PPI.
